Meze*
A Cosmopolitan Culinary Stimulation by Viron Erol Vert

For the culinary gathering and exchange we invite the visitors to join us on a Meze installation, in good weather, in front of the building of the Kunstverein for the anniversary of the Badischer Kunstverein. The artist Viron Erol Vert, in collaboration with various collaborators of the city, will prepare and present a selection of different dishes, so-called meze. The Turkish name Meze has its origin in the Levant of the Mediterranean and is a widespread tradition from the Balkans through Asia Minor to Central Asia, to the Middle East.
This particular food culture is not only to be understood as a side dish to a drink, but is above all a culinary life form, which represents the exchange with the different and the opposite on several levels at the table. It means seeing, smelling but also sharing, enjoying and getting together.

*Persian (translit.) maze‎; Turkish: meze; Greek (translit.) mezés; Arabic (translit.) maqabalat‎; Albanian: Meze
