Angelika Stepken took over as director of Villa Romana in November 2006. Following extensive refurbishment measures, she reopened the Villa in May 2007.
She was previously Director at Badischer Kunstverein in Karlsruhe from 1998-2006. As a curator, she has organised numerous international exhibitions since the late 1980s: most recently the ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen [Institute for Foreign Relations]) exhibition Future Perfect, which has toured internationally since 2013.
She has written numerous reviews, texts on art and articles in catalogues. She has also taken on teaching roles and was responsible for the 2012 BDI (Federation of German Industries) annual Jahresring publication On One Side of the Same Water. Artistic practicces between Tirana and Tanger.
She has been and is still a member of a number of juries, was a board member at the AdKV (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Kunstvereine [Federation of German Art Associations]) and is Chairwoman of the ifa Advisory Board.

Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Florence.
Since September 2009 she is person in support, photograph and takes care of exhibtion-technics at Villa Romana.

After an apprenticeship in bookselling in Germany she graduated in German-Italian-Studies and Art History at the Universities of Bonn and Florence.
Since January 2014 she works as an administrative employee at the Villa Romana.
Ala and Victor Cebotaru
born 1970 / 1960 in Moldova
Since 2008 Ala (French teacher) and Victor Cebotaru (Constructor) are working as janitors of Villa Romana and taking care of the house and the garden.
