Basak Senova / Branko Franceschi
Notes on a collaborative curatorial model

7 pm

2nd Project Biennial of Contemporary Art, D-0 ARK Underground
(Bosnia and Herzegovina, 26 April - 26 September, 2013)

This talk aims to discuss the collaborative curatorial model which was developed in the course of the research, development, and implement processes of the 2nd Project Biennial of Contemporary Art, D-0 ARK Underground (2013) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this context, Basak Senova and Branko Franceschi will probe into the nature of their collaboration and curatorial methodology by navigating through the conditions and the structure of the biennial.

Project Biennial D-0 ARK Underground is stationed in the space of the Tito's Atomic shelter in Konjic, 45km south of Sarajevo. The object is still under the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim of the project is to transform this military object to a cultural centre as the biennial is establishing a contemporary art museum inside of a historical museum.

Basak Senova is a curator and designer based in Istanbul. She studied Literature and Graphic Design at Bilkent University and attended the 7th Curatorial Training Programme of Stichting De Appel, Amsterdam. She has been writing on art, technology and media, initiating and developing projects and curating exhibitions since 1995.

Branko Franceschi is a free lance curator based in Zagreb, Croatia. For more than 20 years he has initiated and curated numerous exhibitions of contemporary art for exhibition venues in Croatia and beyond. His diverse background includes the production of online works, articles for daily papers, art reviews and cultural periodicals, TV and radio broadcasting.
