Zineb Andress Arraki - guest artist at Villa Romana from May to July 2015 - was born in 1984 in the city of Casablanca where she works, lives and where she grew up before studying architecture in Paris.

At l’Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture (ESA-Paris), she met her mentor and professor Lionel Lemire, who introduced her «to the observation of irregularities of the skin of the world». This encounter was the beginning of a search that refined her position in the world she lives in. Her thesis «Et si le noir fabriquait l’architecture?» - What would happen if black (color) generated architecture? – is the genesis of her overall approach. In it, she defines her own frame of references.

"Mobilogy", questioning the usual is a daily experience; using facebook and her phone, she’s been posting a triptych every day since 2008, as if she’s telling a story in three pictures. This approach is intended to question the usual, the trivial, the everyday. To incite curiousity, taking as reference the literary work of Georges Perec, «L’ Infra-ordinaire». Her «traditional photographs» arise from her life encounters, from situations she has to face. She tried to invent her own rules to share her feelings, shaping her approach and determining her uniqueness.

Zineb Andress Arraki’s work combines architecture, photography, installation, sculpture and scenography.
