Continuing the discussion which started last October at Villa Romana with Adalisa Menghini, Jeremiah Day now invites two more practitioners from different generations to a talk. New Dance shifted the entire framework of culture, with a focus on individual scaled experimentalism pursued in a supportive peer network, always with one eye on the question of the greater good. How do we deal with this legacy today?

Day's mentor and collaborator for over twenty years, Simone Forti has taught hundreds of workshops around the world in addition to her historical work at the intersection of dance and visual arts, and her recent development as a writer.
Lailye Weidman is a teacher, dancer and choreographer, whose work with Contact Improvisation goes from her practice as a teenager to her later work as an editor at Contact Quarterly. Lailye was the person who first introduced Contact Improvisation as a practice to Jeremiah, and their dialogue has spanned now decades, including her time studying with Forti in Los Angeles.
The three of them will work together to clarify this tradition, using the questions from the public to come to better understanding of what it was, and what it is today.
