Ľuboš Kotlár and Norbert Olàh in conversation with Teodora Talhos

Ľuboš Kotlár and Norbert Olàh, both International Guest Artists in 2021 at Villa Romana, talk about their latest artistic projects. The two artists have been chosen to complete a two months residency as a result of a cooperation between the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC) and Villa Romana Florence. Their presentation is followed by a discussion about collective means of art production, locality and representation. The discussion has an open format to which the audience is invited to actively get involved.
L'ubos Kotlár, born 1991 in Slovakia, studied Photography and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem and the Aalto School of Art Design and Architecture in Helsinki (2012 – 2018). Since 2012 he has had several solo shows in Slovakia and also worked as a curator. In 2018 he was awarded the Grand Prix by the Biennial of Theatre Photography in Slovakia.
Norbert Oláh, born 1990, studied at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (2010 - 2016) and completed one year with Erasmus-programme at the Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa. Since 2015 he has received several awards and scholarships and had exhibitions in Hungary and Austria. His recent artistic work focusses on a kind of painterly cartography of one of Budapest's quickly changing urban districts, where he also lives and works.
Teodora Talhoș, born 1997 in Oradea, Romania, studied Art History at the University of Vienna and is currently completing her Master Degree in Curatorial Studies at Städelschule and Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. She has curated several exhibitions in Romania and Germany. Her latest research focus revolves around alternative forms of resistance and the concept of outsider in contemporary art.
