PERPETUUM, Ralf Witthaus, October 2016, Hamburg, Öjendorfer Park

Ralf Witthaus is creating a typographical garden in the upper meadow of the Villa Romana. He is using brushcutters and lawnmowers as pencils and he want to focus with his piece of art something which is hardly to see: He found the sentence „NULLA DIES SIEN LINE“ on the top of the building, just above the sun dial. In the context of all the artists coming to Firenze and having their scholarships here for over one hunderd years, this sentence have a very poetic meaning. This is the starting point for the design of his typographic garden which will be opened at 11 am and could be visited at 12 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm, 5 pm.

The artist creates artistic experiences in the form of a landscape experience. What he is interested in is the human perspective – on the ground standing or walking – and the changes in the perception of landscape by moving through drawings as big as a garden, as big as a park, or as he did in Cologne and Würzburg: around a city. For his drawings he just use the color difference between brown and green. After some weeks the grass is coming back and the drawings fade. The drawing itself is only a part, as important is the perfomative part of this art: Witthaus works in black and white - even when he is working with bigger teams, they are all wearing black suit - and they take it as a celebration.

We would be happy to see you on Friday 11 November 2016 at 11:00 a.m. for our press conference. The piece of art will be finished to that time and you have the possibility to make photos of the art and the artist.

We would like to cordially invite you to confirm your participation: 0039 349 2242 540 or savelliserena@icloud.com

The project is made possible by the support of the Villa Romana and STIHL.
