Time and its end or better its expansion and extension in musical and expressive terms. Explored in various ways, from Olivier Messiaen’s apolitical Quatuor pour la fin du temps (1941) to Justė Janulytė's world premiere Trio, passing through heavenly Schubertian lengths and the seeming immobility of American Alvin Lucier. The psalmody of slow melodies interrupted and accompanied by multiple electronic layers and not, like in Justė Janulytė Psalms for cello and electronics and Beat Furrer’s first piece for the piano, a hymn to silence and the (almost) inaudible music of a frozen, rarefied landscape.

Luca Scarlini is an essayist, playwright, theatrical storyteller and translator who works often with singers and actors. He teaches at the Brera Academy and other Italian and foreign institutions and collaborates with several theatres and festivals in Italy and abroad. Scarlini also works for Italy’s Radio 3 and has written extensively on the relationship between music and society. He participates in various theatre programmes around Europe and edits columns for the Teatro Regio in Turin. His texts are translated into several languages and his published books include La musa inquietante (Cortina), Equivoci e miraggi (Rizzoli), D’Annunzio a Little Italy (Donzelli), and Lustrini per il regno dei cieli (Bollati Boringhieri). He also writes regularly for the magazines Alias (of Il Manifesto) and L’Indice dei Libri.

Aldo Campagnari completed his musical studies under the guidance of Pierantonio Cazzulani and Armando Burattin. After being the concertmaster of the Italian Youth Orchestra, playing under the direction of R. Muti, C.M. Giulini, G.G. Rath and G. Sinopoli, he worked with the La Scala Orchestra in Milan. He specialised with Massimo Quarta in Bologna and at the Lugano Conservatory. Since 1997, he has been a member of the Prometeo Quartet, which has won awards in various renowned international competitions (first prize in Prague, Bordeaux and Munich). Campagnari has also been called to perform in some of the most prestigious national and international concert associations (with tours in South America and Japan), collaborating with artists like Mario Brunello, Alexander Lonquich, Veronika Hagen, Reiner Schmidt etc. He has recorded for Italy’s Rai Radio 3, ARD (Munich and Saarbrücken), ORF (Austria), Czech Radio and BBC (Belfast). In 2006, he founded the Festival Quartetto Prometeo. He is also the violinist for Alter Ego (Rome) and plays piano for various chamber-music formations. He teaches violin at the F. Gaffurio Music Academy in Lodi and has taught quartet and chamber music at the Orlando Festival in Holland and at the Conservatory in Trent.

Franceso Dillon graduated with the maximum of degrees at the Conservatorio L.Cherubini in Florence under the inspirational guidance of Andrea Nannoni. Other very influential teachers where David Geringas, Mario Brunello and Amedeo Baldovino and for the composition studies Salvatore Sciarrino. Beside his solo activity he’s very active as cellist of the Quartetto Prometeo (which tours regularly in Europe, Japan and South America). He regularly plays chamber music with partners such as I. Arditti, G. Carmignola, M. Campanella etc. His deep interest in contemporary music led him to collaborate closely and regularly with some of the most important composers of today such as Gavin Bryars, Ivan Fedele, Philip Glass etc. and with well renowned electronic musicians such as Matmos, Pansonic, Scanner, Alva Noto, Midaircondo. As a member of the internationally acclaimed group Alter Ego and for his solo projects he has performed in all the major contemporary music festivals. Dillon recorded for the labels Aulos, Dynamic, Ricordi, Stradivarius and Touch. Next will be a Schumann album on Brilliant label.

Emanuele Torquati is a notable performer of new music and enjoys a diverse and varied career as a pianist. He graduated with the maximum of degrees at the Conservatorio L.Cherubini in Florence and studied then with such luminaries as Alexander Lonquich, Yvonne Loriod-Messiaen and Nicholas Hodges. His activity has been supported by many international institutions. The recipient of several Italian and international awards, has performed extensively throughout Europe, United States and Canada. His concerts have been broadcasted in Europe for numerous National Radios and recently for the web TV Limenmusic. His passionate involvement in new music brought him to give several first performances of both solo and chamber works, written by Miroslav Srnka, James Newton, Brett Dean and Alessandro Solbiati. He has worked intensively with leading composers including Sylvano Bussotti, Wolfgang Rihm, Kaija Saariaho, Matthias Pintscher etc. and he has collaborated with artists such as Beat Furrer, Susanne Linke, Krater Ensemble and FontanaMIX etc. He has been invited to give Masterclasses within several Universities and Conservatories, such as IULM, Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, and Conservatory F. Bonporti Trento.

Juste Janulyte studied composition at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Milan Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory and in the masterclasses under prof. B. Kutavičius, O. Balakauskas, H. Tulve, L. Francesconi, A. Solbiati and others. Janulytė's music was performed in Europe, USA and Canada, by Orchestra del Teatro la Fenice (Venice), Orchestre de Flûtes Français (Paris), Sinfonietta Rīga, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group etc. She has participated in various festivals, such as World New Music Days (Sweden), Musikprotokoll im steirischem Herbst (2009), La Biennale di Venezia and others. White music for 15 strings (2004) and Textile for orchestra (2008) were awarded as the best chamber and symphonic pieces of the year by the Lithuanian Composers' Union. In 2009 Aquarelle won the 1st prize (in the category of composers under 30 ) at the International Rostrum of Composers in Paris. Since 2006 Juste Janulyte has been teaching a course on contemporary music language at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
