Giulio Rovighi (violin)
Aldo Campagnari (violin)
Carmelo Giallombardo (viola)

The sixth meeting, MUSIC FOR STRINGS, will have as its protagonists the Quartetto Prometeo, following the complete recording of the Quartets by Salvatore Sciarrino for the KAIROS from the premiere of his latest work for this group at the Aldeburgh Music, Maerz Musik Berlin, Ultima Oslo. A particular affinity ties these performers to the music of the greatest living Italian composer, who will exceptionally be present at the event and will be stimulated by the musicologist Daniele Spini on the ever problematic issues of creativity and of being artists in the contemporary world. The enormous and original music of the Quartetto no. 7, in which the sounds of the four strings are going to be transformed into some kind of imagined vocal music, accompany Scalatti’s notes – Sciarrino has transcribed them for the Quatetto Prometeo uniting them under the title Esercizi di tre stili. At the same time they show the composer’s constant bond with the past. This music will enter in dialogue with the six musical moments taken from the last quartet of the Hungarian composer Gyorgy Kurtag – Sciarrino’s ideal companion.
