CLEPTOCRAZIA

a cura di Valeria D'Ambrosio

CLEPTOCRAZIA is an art and science festival aiming to deepen and disseminate knowledge on the roots of the current environmental crisis caused by a capitalist, patriarchal and colonialist form of socio-economic management of the planet. Through a cycle of videos and lectures, international artists and well-known scientists will explore six macro-themes relating to Anthropocene, from a term coined in 2000 by Dutch chemist Paul Crutzen, i.e. the current geological era characterized by a constant increase in the impact of anthropic activities on the terrestrial environment with consequent alterations of natural ecosystems.

The artists will introduce their most representative works connected with the topic for which they have been selected, while the scientists will be asked to narrate art from the perspective of science to disseminate information on urgent issues and create a dialectical, multidisciplinary and constructive dialogue with contemporary artistic languages.

For the entire duration of the festival, Villa Romana will host an exhibition of videos and documentaries created by the six invited artists which will be accompanied by an editorial product produced in collaboration with TAB. Take Away Bibliographies.
