Dat_ Workshop
Make your film. Tell your story.

I think it is very important that films make people look at what they’ve forgotten.
Spike Lee

Dat_ Workshop is a series of four filmmaking workshops that offer the chance for young people to learn how to write and develop their own stories for the screen. The workshop additionally gives the participants the opportunity to learn all of the different trades involved in filmmaking from camera operation to editing. A thematic focus on Black History in Italy and Communities of African Descent in the city of Florence provides a framework for the development of new narrative writing and one of the ideas created through the workshop will be made into a short film and presented at the end of the program.

The aim of the workshops created by the filmmaker Fide Dayo is to foster local talent, encourage aspiring filmmakers while highlighting Black History in Florence and stories that have yet to be told.

The workshops are designed for ages 14+, immigrants and adults of all ages are welcome. No experience or prior knowledge of filmmaking is necessary – but those with experience are more than welcome and will also benefit from the workshop.

The workshop requires a weekly fee of €10 for each session.
