Mario Pfeifer
Again Noch Einmal
The interview with Mario Pfeifer was held during his stay at the Villa Romana in the course of the project SEEDS FOR FUTURE MEMORIES. Thirteen artists from Europe and Africa deal with the entanglements of both continents, and Senegal /Italy in particular, from different perspectives. The research project, which was conceived for a period of one year, will be accompanied on a blog. Results will be shown in exhibitions in Florence and Berlin in 2019.audiofile
Mario Pfeifer (born 1981 in Dresden) explores representation structures and conventions through the medium of film. In a practice of overlapping, he interweaves transcultural references from art history, film and politics. Mario Pfeifer's works have been presented in numerous solo exhibitions in institutions all over the world, such as The Power Plant, Toronto (2019), Pylon Lab, Dresden (2019), Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz (2018), Ludlow38, New York (2015), Fotomuseum Winterthur (2015) and Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Santiago de Chile (2014). His films were shown at Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt (2019), CAC Contemporary Art Center, Vilnius (2016), International Film Festival Oberhausen (2016), Seoul New Media Festival (2015), MoMA PS1 in New York (2013), Kunsthaus Bregenz (2013) and at the 62nd International Film Festival New York (2013). His video work Again - Noch Einmal was produced for the 10th Berlin Biennale (2018). Mario Pfeifer's works have received numerous awards, in 2019 he received the Edith Russ Award, Oldenburg.
