Michele Marco Rossi

Biography

Michele Marco Rossi was born in Rome in 1989. He graduated in cello at the Conservatory of Perugia, with highest honours.
He is actively studying other musical disciplines, including classical voice and guitar. In addition to this, he writes verses and songs that have already been presented in several music competitions.
He began studying cello under the guidance of A. Ancarani, and later at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome with M. Gambini and in Perugia with N. Rossetti. He also attended summer courses held by the Duo Pepicelli, and trained over the years under the guidance of cellist F. Pepicelli and the Duo itself.
Since April 2010, he has worked with Nicola Piovani, playing cello and guitar in Piovani's Quintet, in a tour that includes concerts in Dubrovnik, Palermo, Catania, Rossano di Vaglio, Caminia di Staletti, Catanzaro, Città Sant'Angelo, Bucharest and other cities, thus improving his knowledge and his ability to interpret various musical styles.
In several concerts in Terni (several times at the Auditorium Gazzoli), in Perugia (at the Conservatory of Music, the Auditorium Marianum and the Sala dei Notari) and Assisi (Teatro Liryck), he has brought the Carnival of the Animals by C.  Saint-Saens to the stage. For this composition he wrote a series of pieces in verse, playing the role of author of the text, cellist and narrator. For the performances of The Carnival of the Animals at the 55th Festival of Spoleto, he wrote a new text to be read by Elio Pandolfi.
He has performed in numerous musical seasons, playing in various chamber music ensembles: in duos of cello, performing in concerts at the Auditorium of Leonessa and the National Gallery of Umbria in Perugia as part of the instrumental group of the Conservatory of Perugia, where he studied The Musical Offering by Bach. This was performed at the Conservatory itself as well as in numerous churches, concert halls and theatres, a performance in St. Peter's Square in Rome and the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, in duo with flute in concerts in Rome and Umbria. From October 2011, he worked with the renowned Chamber Orchestra I Solisti di Perugia, participating and performing in numerous concerts in the programme (Terni, Perugia, Fabro, Rimini, etc.).
During the winter of 2011, he studied at the International Chamber Music Academy of the Trio di Trieste, under the guidance of R. Zanettovich, D. de Rosa, and M. Jones.
In September 2012, he began studying composition with Edgar Alandia. Concurrently he studied contemporary music under the guidance of bassist Daniel Roccato and cellist Francesco Dillon. He was admitted to Advanced Studies at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, in the class of Giovanni Sollima. He became a part of the Warhol Piano Quartet, with which he attended the course in chamber music held by the Quartetto di Cremona, at the Accademia Walter Stauffer in Cremona. He has given many concerts with the quartet, including a performance at the Quirinale concerts, broadcast live on Radio 3.
