Stephany Nwobodo
Born 1997 in Ferrara
Italy
Stephany Nwobodo is a Nigerian-Italian visual artist. Her practice is rooted on the concept of Afrocentrism as an affirmation of African culture and exaltation of the traditional values that belong to it. It stems from an introspective investigation related to her ethnic origins. The works develop through the representation of abstract forms placed in undefined environments. Through an anthropological investigation, the artist interviews relatives, collecting their testimonies regarding the postcolonial period up to the civil/ethnic conflict that took place in Nigeria in 1963.
